I saw a guy (newby) who had just purchased a 2nd gen at our recent Dyno Event in Lewisville, TX. Sharp truck, powdercoated valve cover, debadged, etc.....aftermarket wheels etc. But had a freaking "FRAM" oil filter on it.

I informed him of the Fram stories I have heard about on here. He said he hadn't changed the oil yet since he bought it but would make sure he didn't put another Fram on it. Hopefully he will educate himself in a hurry and get a Fleetguard Stratapore!

You know as much as I use the Strats on my 04, the old 96 ram 3500 that my Dad had bought new and it was used for pulling its entire life (still going) pretty much ALL Fram filters used on it without one single problem 100's of oil changes later with Fram filters (Rotella oil) everything is still fine with it.

I know that a lot of people have cut them open for all different kinds of cars/trucks and saw that they were crappy but I had used them in all my cars for years (still use em in the wifes Accord) and never had any kind of issues maybe im lucky but I never saw an problem with them. Now im not saying for anyone to start using them just posting my $.02 thats all...

I would be shocked if the inlet holes were the most restrictive part of an oil filter. To compare filters by base plates alone does not give the total picture of an oil filter.

That being said, I'd pick the Stratapore over an M1...and everything else.

I've got a Mobil on the truck right now with Fleetguards on standby for upcoming oil changes. Hope I don't have anything to worry about, thought Mobil had a pretty good rep?
