To make a kinda long story short i changed my oil today and took for a ride alittle bit ago and when i popped the hood i could see some oil around the edge of the filter(in the lip) and its black oil, i got some in there when i filled it but wipped it out? And i made sure the gasket came off with the old one!
What gives fellas any ideas on what this might be?

 

I haven't seen it. But I have only used one fleetguard stratapore...first oil change.

If it is not leaking ie continuous, I'd say its reside that got on the outside lip when screwing the oil filter up to the mount.

I also assume that you tightened it 1/4-1/2 turn past hand tight? Did you lube the o-ring? Prefill the filter?

Let`s see. Could it be loose enough to seep. Tighten it up, use some brake clean to clean it up and keep an eye on it...

 

x2 on the brake clean. Just check the tightness and clean it up and watch it. If you know for a fact the old O-ring came off and the new one was lubed, you should be OK. Good Luck and keep us posted if you find something odd.

 

Im gonna try to clean it out and keep an eye on it! Yeah i checked myself twice on the old 0-ring!! Thanks for the replys fellas!
