Oil change??

Cummins say's change oil/filter every 15,000 for light duty use, 7,000k for severe duty, and dodge say's 3,700 for normal driving. I drive about 3,000 per month and 90% of that is highway miles with no towing. I've changed the oil/filter every 3000 but now I'm getting sick of doing it every month.
Is changing it at 3000 overkill?? What do you guy's think??
Thanks for the opinions.

Re:Oil change??

Calvin,

Use Cummin's recommendations, but keep a log with notations of changes at the other interval dates for Dodge. A bit crooked like a dog's hind leg, but you will be covered if Dodge balks at a warranty claim. All you need are records.

Your mileage sounds like the best kind, real easy on the truck as long as you are running 20 minutes or more between cold start-ups. Frequent cold starts and dusty conditions are what kills the oil.

Re:Oil change??

Everything other than my truck is on 5000 mile intervals. Easier to remember that way. The truck is on sample based changes.

Re:Oil change??

Unless you have the CA diesel then you don't need to change the oil but every 7000 miles, Sched B; 15000, Sched A. The CA diesel states every 3750 for oil changes.
