Occasional hard start

Just wondering what you guys who have experienced this have found out to be the cause.

Just started happening the last four or five days. It has been colder these mornings (high 20's low 30's). Grids fire for around ten seconds or so. Turn the key and she turns over for a bit longer than normal before firing. Maybe a long three or four second count.

Her whole life she would fire almost immediately upon turning key.
Fuel filters are 3000 miles new. I've noticed a slight drop in mpg but that is most likely winter fuel.

Any ideas???

Also she fires right away after warmed up... I'm thinking batteries maybe???

Same thing happened to me for the first time this morning while it was 30F. Turned the key and it stumbled, so I shut her off and cycled the grid heater one more time and then it fired right up. Maybe it's just that it's cold. At any rate I ordered another FASS FF1003(3 mic) fuel filter this after noon, just in case it needs it. Better safe than sorry.

I had that with my old '05 when the temps would drop down, replaced one of the batteries and it was golden thru the winter. Seems just the grid heaters with that huge current draw made it harder to start. Even just plugging in the block heater at night with the battery being lower made a difference.

I've had the issue before at the subzero temps up here. New batteries helped alot. Also I run battery heaters, oil pan heaters, tranny pan heaters, and a block heater. But it gets really cold up here. A balmy -6* right now.
