Now have two CTD!
Now have two CTD!
I just bought a '07 LWB SLT QC 4x4 6spd 5.9 yesterday!...now I have two in the driveway???
My first one is a '92 standard cab LWB 4x4 LE 5spd 3.54 with ~93k miles...we're doing more travel trailer towing now and needed four doors for the kids (they've just had it riding in the back with a topper
).
I debated with myself for years and lurked on this forum trying to convince myself that it was time to move on, finally my wife said "you need a new shiny truck"...how do you argue with that? I love my 12 valve for its simplicity and no nonsense but the newer ones definitely have a refined touch (I'm getting older I guess) and a softer front end. My biggest hangup was the loss of front hubs on the new ones...I'm old school and have never minded getting out to lock the hubs.
How tough is it to change the fuel filter? I see it is a drop in now. The oil filter looks cramped down there, any hints.
I'm going to have a tough time selling my first one as it has been an absolute peach since day one. She's given me no troubles at all and has never spent a day in the shop (aside from one visit for the injector pump recall way back).
Any guesses on how much my old truck is worth if I convince myself to sell?
Sounds kinda silly but I want it to go to a good home, if you know what I mean.

I certainly don't know all the details of your truck, but I went to www.nadaguides.com and it shows around $9100. I may have been way off though, so you might want to spec. it out yourself. Welcome to the site!

The fuel filter is easy and takes no time. For the oil filter i suggest a plyer type wrench mine works great at cracking them loose especialy the factory placed filter other than that its a sinch. Congrats on the new truck by the way!
and welcome to the site
Michael
P.S. fill out your sig on the new truck for future purposes

I guess this is a good kinda problem
Thanks for the warm welcome...
Part of our agreement to buy a new rig was to trade in our Isuzu Trooper that provided the 4-door family buggy and sell the '92 CTD that covered the tow/haul duties. It never occured to me to trade-in the '92 for the new one but didn't think I'd feel so attached and find it difficult to place an add to sell it. She hasn't said a word about the old one still here so maybe I'll just see if she forgets about it?? All three of my girls like the old truck and give me the "daddy, don't get rid of that one, I like it better"...of course they only liked it when they got to ride in the cab!
As you can tell from the low mileage on the first one, I wasn't using if for a daily driver so I don't know how I can justify having both. The '07 is now a daily driver but I hate the idea of trying to keep both fully exercised. I've tried to loan the '92 out (I know, big no-no) to family and friends but most decline saying it's much too big and loud for them to handle
or can't drive stick.
Those on the forum that have owned two like these will certainly agree...they're both a blast to drive in their own ways.
We'll see...
