not shifting out of first gear w/o letting off pedal

im at a loss guys, my truck had problems shifting in to the first three gears, i had to let off the pedal to get it to shift. i replaced the governor pressure sensor and transduser, filter. when i dropped the pan i found a chunk of the overdrive snap ring. i pulled the overdrive and found the overdrive direct wave snapring in pieces. replaced it and changed the bearings put all back together. refilled with fluid and test drove yesterday. now first gear wont shift with out letting off the pedal. the others gears seem to shift fine. just first gear.
any help would be appreciated i need my truck.

Are you sure the speed sensor is plugged in?

speed sensor is clean.

My truck did that when I adjusted the front ( kick down ) band and had it a hair too tight. 1/4-1/2 turn looser fixed my issue.

Thanks for the reply, I attempted to adjust my front band. It was super loose... I could have screwed it all the way in by hand no problem. I couldnt feel any resistance at all. Is that norm or do you suspect internal issues with the band?
