Is It Normal To Have A Little Seepage...

...between the valve cover and head on a motor with 9k miles? It's hardly noticeable towards the front and gets a little worse as it goes back to #6.

I also noticed a little fuel seepage on the rail right where the #1 and #6 lines bolt up. Not much, but enough to cover half the nut and be noticeable. Is this normal or do I have a problem(s)?

No!!!!! I have 45,000 on my 04.5 and no seepage. Take it to the dealer and have them fix it.

They might tell you your warranty is gone with all the crap you have done.

Wow. I figured it was normal to have a little on the exhaust side. The rail leaks don't look normal, but there really isn't enough leaking to do any harm (I think? ). Here's a couple pics...

Definitely not normal on the exhaust side??

my truck has the same residue on my fuel lines...tighten them up a little, wipe them clean and see if it comes back. I wondered if it was some type of pre lube or something??? because mine never got worse.

the oil leak seems to be a little more then what I would consider normal....but who knows? mine may have some seepage like yours around the front of the valve cover but for sure does not look like the back part????

I was afraid to touch the fuel lines. Didn't want to make it worse.

I did some searching and it sounds like a normal thing to have some seepage on the exhaust side. Not sure if mine's more than normal near the back though? I guess you can remove the cover and retorque some bolts to help fix it?

Mine looks the same, maybe worse. I took it to the dealer & he said it was normal.( of course). But,I still think it doesn't seem right. I've been meaning to clean it off real good & see if it comes back.

I took mine to the dealer and was told its normal, watched the tech wipe it clean with a rag and said I was good to go..... I say its normal because my brothers 03 and 06 have the same stain.

My 03 has the same stain on the exhaust side as well. I power washed the engine bay and it came back! I'm at a loss, 75k miles and no coolant leak and no oil missing! I guess it's the nature of the beast!

For the most part, what you are seeing is molecular migration. Basically, no seal is perfect.

Mine has the same thing. I wonder if its that stuff they spray on the engine that makes it so hard to get that first oil filter off?? lacquer I remember reading a post on it somewhere on here..
