noob cp3 question

where`s it at on my 600? What`s it`s function? Need to be schooled on this......I have that "tapping/knocking" noise that results from the cp3 gear lash/adjustment issue.

Feel dumb asking, but I have no clue.....
Thanks in advance.

The CP3 is the high pressure fuel pump on common rail engines. It's located on the front driver's side of the engine. Follow the fuel supply line coming out of the fuel filter canister. --Eric
