On the sensor, the electrical plug was still there, from the outward appearance it was just fine, but when I un-screwed it on the inside it's just a piece of round brass with the center hollowed out. I'm assuming that there was once a sensor probe fitted in there. I bought the truck new and now running 120k. on the sensor, the hole doesn't go all the way through the brass plug. There is no opening between the electrical on the outside and the inside of the motor. It's like a spark plug if the ceramic fell out, it's still a solid plug.

I had the same problem (lost boost) when I was test driving my truck to buy it and the check engine light came on. Later boost was back. It had a TST Powermax 3. The dealer said the box was bad and pulled it.

The guys at TST however said it seemed like a faulty connection, but the box had disappeared from the dealer, now I have just wired in a Power max 2 and pulled off the old connections from the Power max 3 after I had the similar problem. 2 of the connections were bad I think, definitely the wire pierce at the injection pump.

Like was stated earlier try unplugging the box first, then if it performs as normal you could try pulling and re-do the connections for the wire taps.

Just my .02

If I understand correctly, the end of the sensor may have gone through the engine? Boy, I'd be concerned that it scratched up a cylinder or something, unless it is still rolling around in the intake manifold or something.

This link has a good photo of what the sensor is supposed to look like.

Anyhow, I suppose I would consider having the compression checked, then replace the IAT and see what happens. Other option, I suppose, would be pulling stuff (manifold, head) until you find the thing...

Good luck with it, and let us know what happens.

Bad sensor.

I would check your turbo for sure it would of hit the hotside. It may have gone trew the engine with out any damage I have worked on Cat 3126 were the injector tip breaks off, most times the valve sets get wiped out but I have seem to odd one were the part goes clean threw the engine and hit the turbo only, The only way to tell for sure is to pull the head and inspect your parts.
Sorry to hear about your bad luck hope thing work out for ya!

In mine all the white portion was gone. I was traveling down the highway tonight at 65mph and no boost, and without changing anything the truck just started speeding up, and all the sudden I had 20pounds of boost, and the truck ran great until I shut it off and restarted it, then it was dead again. Still need to know what I need to do to disable the Comp Box and get the truck back to stock.

The turbo itself doesn't have any play in it, not touching anything and has just a little resistance on the spin, so i think it's fine. The truck runs decent just lacks some power and smokes alot more. Still looking for ideas. I tried to pull the map sensor today, in the instructions from this sight it says a 13/16 socket, but i have tried all the way to 1 1/8 and it still doesn't fit. Can anybody tell me what size they take so i can go buy a socket.
The MAP sensor takes a 1-1/4" deep socket.

With all the help on here and a little dumb luck I got my truck back. It turns out that the sensor i pulled was about 3 inches toward the front of the engine from the IAT sensor, looks just like it except its a little bigger and no probe on the inside. Other wise they look identical, it turned out to be the Turbo Pressure Sensor. In talking to the mechanic at the Cummins dealer he said it was probably the root of my evil anyway and showed me the IAT burried in the wires behind it. With the pressure probe replaced everything kicked right back in. I did go a head and replace the IAT after the test drive, just for good measure. For future referance the Cummins part number was 3348747 it was $53.00 plus a $22.00 core charge

I think if it were mine, I would double check all the fittings (I've missed things the first time) then take a look at the turbo...
I installed a new turbo after mine grenaded, it ran like a champ for 100+ miles. I shut it off at work got back in to leave and nothing maybe 10 pounds of boost if I stomp on it. I'm lost here

Have you had a look at the turbo? Spins smoothly and not hitting the housing? Boot somewhere slipped or cracked?

I think I'd still check the turbo and boots. Even if things are new, something could have prematurely failed.
