no fluid flow in PARK - will a VB fix? how long is too long to idle?
no fluid flow in PARK - will a VB fix? how long is too long to idle?
my 04 has only "jumped" out of gear once - and that may have been my fault, but i'm pretty concerned about that. i put the E brake anytime i stop & go to Park.
i left it setting the other night, got out at
http://www.patriotspoint.org/splash.asp
to see my old ship's park bench, it's here somewhere
http://www.patriotspoint.org/content.asp?catID=8483
but i left the wife in the truck, was late at night, cold,
left it running, and i could hear it chugging and spitting every once in a while.
the wife said it felt like it was jerking and bucking, sitting there in park with the e-brake on.
so anyways, been plugging it in, and letting it warm up in the AM,
if the 04 tranny doesn't circulate tranny fluid, should i put it in Nuetral to warm up?
is nuetral safer than Park for jumping in/out of gear?
i park it pointed at the house so cord will reach.
am i over worried about this?
only idles ~10 minutes in the morning.
i drive thru neighborhood before i get on main road.

My understanding is that chrysler trannies do not circulate fluid in park....This may be old info. Others in the know may chime in.
You may want to look into an aftermarket throttle control, if you want to let the truck idle to warm up. Get the revs up to 1100-1200; keeps the fuel completely burned. Again this may be old info.

that's why i posted, but did not make it clear. (hard to get good help...)
i am wondering if spinning the Torque Conv @ 1100 RPM is bad, since the tranny is not circulating.
and jumping into gear at idle is one thing, but jumping into gear at 1100 rpm will hurt something.
Fliud is moving and moving in the torque convertor and other areas. Its not being valved to clutch's etc. Some if not ALL trans shift kits address this and changes some check ***** or holes in the valve body and it will circulate to the clutch/drum area.Really nothing new.Chrysler units been this way for several decades. Some tranny gurus can fill you in on details etc.

My understanding that the tranny does not pump in Park, It pumps in neutral and when coasting with TC unlocked but it does not go through all the gears. With mods it will pump and cool all the tranny all times. ks
