I don't think the in-tank one is the greatest idea. They seem to be better than the canister mount ones but if they fail you have to drop the tank, and the tank has to be dropped to put the first one in too. With a Walbro setup you have full access to the pump all the time along the frame rail. I carry an extra that I could probably change in 15 minutes with a swiss army knife if needed. Plus cheap electric pumps are available everywhere, and cheap, for spares.
The stock pickup tube on the canister trucks will get every last drop of fuel out of the tank and many of us have put in 39 of more gallons without running out of fuel.
Don't wait till you get stranded. The lift pumps are a known weakness. Fix it right when you choose the time instead of 400 miles away with a load, in the middle of the night, or while on vacation.
