2006 with electric shift actuator. Is engaging the transfer case in neutral on its own. So far I have replaced the actuator and the connector to the shift actuator. Actuator will move from 2hi to 4hi, but when turn the selector switch to 4 low, Service 4x4 light comes on. I did get C1405 code. I’m wondering if the TIPM could have a short. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

 

my 2003 2500 had engagement problems and came to find the case was dry oil and damaged beyong repair.trans shop said it's common on this case to have seal failures.But yours does sound electrical.

 

Thanks, New upadate Acutator will move from 2h to 4hi, but throws sevice 4wd light going to 4 low. Truck is now making alot of noise in the transfer case locked in what i think is 4 low. It is at the dealership so far still throwning the same c1405, High resistence. Dealer said the tipm did not smell burnt.

 

I have had the same problem ,the transfer case acuator(transfer case motor) would engage and disengage on its own even while the truck was parked and not running .So far all I have done is unplug it from under the truck ,on the motor it self . Thats why Im on here looking for answers lol .
