The dealer wont do the flash if I dont say anything right? I'd like to see kingofdodge7131's dyno runs first. Its going to the dealer 9/28 for a leaking p/s gearbox.

I only have 1100 miles on it now, so I have plenty of time to complain about white smoke.

I supposedly had the reflash done today, I really don't know if they did it or not, overhead still reads bout the same, poor, but I do have a hard copy of it, scanner is on the fritz or I would post it. If anyone has the tools to be able to scan and post it and also has a fax machine, PM me your fax number and I will fax it if you will post it so evryone can have a copy. This is 18-037-04.

Couldn't tell any difference in power either way.

Up until the new injectors were installed , I had white smoke with a miss .
I have had the reflash and I do not get black smoke on a regular basis. However, soot builds up in the exhaust such that if I have not really romped on it for awhile, it briefly belches this soot out and it appears as smoke. Once purged, romping on it will not produce any more.

I have received some more info on the TSB on the white smoke / mileage listed above. This TSB according to my dealership is for specific 600 engines built in December 03 (I think they said before 12/13/03 will try and confirm) and certain engine serial numbers only. Any engines after this december build date will not apply to this TSB. After reviewing the mileage increase according to the tech that would pefrom the flash from STAR's info would be >1 mpg total. This does not change the 600 back to the 550 or lessen the HP rating of the engine.

Furthermore the reason for the white smoke during cooler weather is the heads are running hotter that they are supposed too and the flash will reduce the temp the run at as well as fuel to air mixture.

This is the info I received from my dealer if anyone hears or heard anything to the contrary let me know. Is this not the "better MPG" flash that we were all waiting for?

BTW my "04.5" 2500 w/Cummins 600 engine's build date is 12/19/03 and truck build date was 1/5/04.

I had the TSB read to me over the phone yesterday. If I remember correctly I was told that it covered the 325/600 engines with build dates up to 8-17-04, or somewhere in that range. I'd say there where very few of the 600 engines built in Dec. 03 compared to the following months, it wouldn't make much sense for the TSB to cover so few of the engines.

Question

I just called the Dodge Dealer in Boulder, CO on That TSB#18-037-04 Service writer said that it's not available until Nov-1, so how is it that other people are getting it done? Is it different in other parts of the country?

My service techs at my dealer are complete idiots. When I called them back about the the dates on the engine builds from December 03 to August 04, the still argued with me about it ONLY covering December 03 engine build dates, even after I told them I was reading a copy of the service bulletin.

sounds like the dearlers are morons. if you read the bulitin it states engines produced between 12-10-03 though and including 8-17-04.

the flash will be availible in november FOR MARKETS OUTSIDE THE US AND CANADA

Gives you lots of faith in there abilitys.

When I took my truck into to get my pinion factor adjusted for my new tires (37x12.5). they guy is like I don't think I can help you. I was like why. he says I think those tires will be out of range. I asked what the range was. he did not know. I asked if he could try and the tech dialed it it as 577 revs per mile no problem. somtime you just have to be stuborn.
