I’ll have to disagree. I don’t know Luke S from Adam’s Uncle, but most of his posts seem pretty reasonable.

On the other hand, I’ve been on the Ford Diesel forum for many years and the GM diesel one before that. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen posts bashing dealers for not “honoring” warranty repairs only to go back and look at the whiners’ past posts and discover that the guy is running a big turbo, racing injectors, propane, stacked boxes, programmers etc and bragging about how many Mustangs, Corvettes and Ricers he has spanked lately. But wait until a rod goes thru the block at 5000 RPM’s or the tranny goes poof trying to put 800 lbs of torque to the ground thru 38” tires and all we hear is how unfair the evil dealers or mfgs are. Okay……

I just spoke to a dealership about the warranty on my truck. Their claim is that if a dealership is not a 5-Star dealer, they have to have Daimler-Chrysler OK the repair. They may have to wait days or even weeks for the OK. So to avoid the hassles from DC, they may try to void a warranty.
If they are a 5-Star dealership, they can OK the repair themselves and DC will pay the bill. The 5-Star program helps pay them for their advertisements and several other benefits from DC so it is in their benefit to maintain that status.

I should have gotten smart enough by now to stay out of this, but you guys keep draging me back in.

First, I think in the first sentence of your last post, if I am reading right, you are insinuating a dealership owner is not a working man? Right now my father and I are in the process of buying out my other family members, we are going to have a bank note for right about $1,000,000. We are here in the store 60-80 hours a week, I guess we are not real "working men" like you?

Second, I had a gentleman tell me today that has been dealing with us for about five years that our service is ten times better than the Honda dealer he deals with for his wifes car, he wants to trade it in on a new Chrysler product so he can deal only with us for service. We go out of our way to help our customers. But I don't understand what is wrong with us wanting to make sure the symtoms the customer is complaining of actually corespond with the TSB he wants us to do. Like I said before, once you download the new program, you can't change it back. I had a guy in here this morning with a gas truck who had a problem with stalling, he had been on the internet and some forums looking at possible causes. He was telling me something about a ground problem a bunch of guys on the internet were complaining about and that he was sure if we'd fix that that'd take care of him. I told him we'd check into it, and I was also going to have my head tech do some diagnostics on it. He did, and found the problem, completely unrelated to what the man was talking about.

Third, it is our job to repair the trucks, but it is the customers responsibility to provide the truck to us during working hours for proper diagnosis and repair. I can not simply take the customers word for what is wrong with their truck. If I did that in the situation I talked about above, the mans truck wouldn't have been fixed properly.

I am really going to quit posting in these kinds of threads now. I will keep posting about new products and info about buying new vehicles, especially under the new 6.7 forum. If you look over there maybe you'll see some posts from some guys who think I am not such a bad guy, some guys who I have helped a lot. Well, I gotta get back to work, lots of stuff to do before I leave the store tonight, and then I gotta go home and feed the cows some hay and chop ice on the water troughs, but I am not a working man by any means.
