New to me truck

I just got my first diesel, it's a 06 mega cab dually. What are some things I should look for or check out. It's got 169km and its auto trans.

Thanks in advance Ben

Hey, Ben... congrats on the 'new' truck.

The 06s did not have any serious problems. Is it a 4wd? Ball joints are an issue with the 4wd trucks in general.

I'd check all the fluids really good, change them if something looks old, maybe get an oil sample sent off to blackstone or the like. Crawl underneath the truck and look for rust, make sure nothing is frayed or worn out.

Take some pics and post them up if you can.

Congratulations Ben. If you don't have any service records on the truck, I would suggest changing all of the fluids so you have a baseline to go on in the future.

Congratulations on your 06 I have one too and really like it. They are power horses. When I got mine it was a one owner and drove her home from about two hundred miles away from home, by the time I got home it was dark out so I got to check out the lights outside and in at a rest stop with the wife following behind. The only lights I found that were out were inside. They were the control lights for the ac, fan, ect. Figured I'd change them when I got home. Not real easy to access the bulbs but with some help from here got the job done. Enjoy your truck.

Welcome Ben. You might find some interesting reading here about our 06s.
