New diesel owner, two questions.
New diesel owner, two questions.
I recieved my new 2500 4x4 LWB 325/600 monday. I traded in a 98 1500 318 w/ 243,860 miles on it. I have never owned a diesel so I'm not sure what to expect. I am hearing a clattering noise coming from the engine, especially when taking off or when I put my foot in it to pass. The clatter sounds to me to be valves or lifters. Is this noise normal. Also, I am hearing and feeling a noise or vibration from the rear end it's alomost like I'm running buckshots instead of AT's. I would apreciate any answers you could give me.
Thanks

the engine noise is normal its a diesel and detonation is what causes the diesel to fire. the rear vibration is probably not normal there wjere quite a few issues with driveline angles and shimming the hanger bearing.
Engine normal, took me about a week to get used to it(My first one also)
Had the same rear-end trouble. The dealership put some new bearings in and a new pinion. She's good as new.
Welcome to the crowd...Carefull, this stuffs addictive!
