New cab and chassis in the driveway

I picked up my cab and chassis late this afternoon, haven't had time to do much more than just drive it around and feel it out some. One thing for sure, the Aisin transmission feels much different than the 47 or 48re. It is a lot smoother and the exhaust brake is something else. It will take some getting used to after driving the six speed stick for the past 345,000 miles, but I believe I be able to handle it. I haven't put the trailer behind it yet so I really can't say how it pulls. I might pull the trailer around empty some this weekend just to check that out but I can't put a load on it until I get it leased on next Tues. (good old rules and regs) I'll continue to drive my old one until I get that done.

A couple of things I noticed, there is no horn alarm when you back up with the door open, at least it didn't do it the one time I tried it. There is a sway bar on the rear axle, there hasn't been one on the 3rd gen trucks until now. It's possible that both of these things are going to be on the cab and chassis only. It doesn't turn as sharply as my 03 does, could be the different wheel base, my cab and chassis has the 167" wheel base or it could be the solid front axle just won't do it. The ride is as good if not better than my 03, again, probably due to the longer wheel base. I'll miss the pockets in my sun visor, they aren't on this truck, of course the radio controls are different, I'll get used to them, one other thing, the lights seem to be much better than on my 03. I guess that's about all I can say at this point, I haven't driven it but about 15 miles but that will change pretty quick.

Congratulations!!!

I’ll be getting a new truck too…in about 15 years! Until then, I’ll be in my 03

Can you post some pictures? Interior mostly. I want to see how they look inside.

Went on a little short run in my old truck and spent the rest of the day taking things out of my old truck and putting them in the new truck. (CB, Brakesmart controller, fire extinguisher, reflective tape ect.) My old steps will need some modification, the frame is bigger on the C&C. One other thing I discovered, the Aisin transmission has a drain plug in the pan. Won't be taking a bath in transmission fluid at change time. I drove it around some more and played with the exhaust brake. In the tow haul mode that thing will shut you down in a hurry. I don't know what it sounds like outside the cab, it kinda rumbles inside the cab, but it will make people turn their head to see what is making that sound. Probably without the muffler it would make some noise, I'll leave that to someone else to straight pipe one of these things, I go through to many weigh stations.

I have pictures, just don't know how to post them. If someone will PM me and tell me how, I'll be glad to do it.

The only way I can get a deisel the way I want is is only avail in a cab chassis config. Good luck with it. Not happy how we really dont get to pick our options when we buy a new truck.

Hey, no disrespect meant by any of that man. On another forum I'm on, we use that as a little fun between friends, just a little joke that's all. I'm not the guy to ride anyone around here, believe me. My sincere appologies, I will keep my humor to myself.

take you pictures. upload them to your "my Pictures" file. Open PhotoBucket or another hosting site on the net. Upload your pics to the host page. Cut and paste the tag called "image" into your post. WahLah
