New 2004.5 engine reflash

Has anyone had the new reflash for improved mileage on the 2004.5s. If so did it work? After reading the TSB it looks like mine falls in the range of build dates, but I have not taken it in yet.

I am leery that getting the reflash may affect performance while adding only 1 mpg.

I got mine done, it's currently indicating about 17.2 mpg with mainly around town driving on the tank, alot of it by the wife. Would generally be down around 16.2 by now, maybe even less the way the wife drives.

I am going in for injector knock tomorrow and thinking about having the flash done. I haven't heard anything bad about it. I hope I am doing the right thing.

Did you notice any change in power?

Runs the same as always, MAYBE a little more diesel rattle, not sure if it's fuel or the flash. Also put a turndown on the truck, it's alot quieter in the cab, might just have not been able to hear it before. I'm beginning to think I might be kind of a bad beta tester for this flash. Same power, might smoke a little less than it did before, I had one of the 600's that smoked like it was going out of style if you punch it about 1700-2k while coasting or something.

Question 2004.5 Reflash

Were did you find the tsb, and what are the build dates. Mine has a March 1 build date, I get 15 mpg. driving to work, 60 miles a day, half rual, half city. on a recent trip of 500 miles, average speed 75-80 towing a 3500lbs bass boat I avg. 15.5 mpg. Does this milage sound about right for the 600 with auto or do you think the reflash will help. I have 6500 miles on the truck.

Tsb # is 18-37-04.

Here is a link to it at Ken Lengers web site. I believe it applies to 2004.5 600s with a build date between 12/03 and 8/04.

I am hours away from getting the new flash and sure would hate to be a beta tester for this if its like they say, as in no turning back after its done. Another thought I have is if there is a cut off date for the flash, does that mean that every truck afer that date will come with this from the factory?

Had this done 9-30-04 and then went on a short trip about 150 miles it seems to have increased milage at interstate speds (70-80MPH) from 14.5 to 17.4 on this trip was pulling a 6X12 enclosed trailer with inside heigth of 6'3" and an HD Electra Glide and got 17.4 on interstate running 70-80 MPH hard to tell about the power just yet but so far no regrets and it only applies to 600s built before a certain date and a certain computer code you can check the build dates but dealer has to check the computer codes
