Or, the 600 will stand for 600 bhp and the torque rating will be 720 and issues that plagued the 47RE will appear on the 48RE.

I'll second the shifting. You don't have to do very much of it. Once rolling you can't use second. Third is for almost stopped a light. Froth most rolling situations. Fifth will take you from the 20's to 50ish threw the mountains (small). Sixth will roll fairly (amazingly) low too. This is light with a 3.73.

You just roll along adjusting speed the your foot. Getting started is more work as the shifts come pritty close, 2nd threw 5th. 1st if for getting out and taking a walk.

I have not gotten setup to pull a load yet, so have not gotten a chance to put 1st to good use. I did have 2400# of coal in the back. Made very little difference to the truck. The brakes are great on the truck, blow both of the GM dualies I had previously away.

12Pack - you might be right! I don't think the 600 is the last shot in the torque wars!

I really do prefer a stick, but the S.O. must be on board. This is going to be a long-term ownership experience!
