Hello all, My friend has a 2003 5.9 TD automatic with in the past two weeks he has a problem when he puts the vehicle in gear, the RPM's go up towards the red line with out him touching the "Fuel" pedal. He changed the fuel filter after it started acting up. One of his friends has a scanner, no problems were found. any ideas??? Thanks in advance.

 

Sound like torque convertor going out. ECM will give as much fuel as needed to keep RPM up. Do you have throttle responce when you take it out of gear?
