Alright so I picked up a cleaned and bored commonrail block for a motor buildup I'm working on and went to get a set of bearings for it and couldn't find the 8 digit casting number that cummins parts is asking for. The only numbers I can find are

81-04-024
11H04

What year is my block? Any other way to find that 8 digit number to order parts with just the block?

Of course the guy who I bought the block from now isn't answering his phone

 

Load block up, take to cummins parts, have them find the info. Not being a smart axx, but it is a solution.

Unfortunately all I bought was the block. Which didnt have the oil cooler, the timing cover, or the valve cover which is where the 8 digit code that cummins needs to identify the engine is stamped

 

Go back to my original post. take block to cummin's;;;;

 

Found it. For anyone else looking for future reference it is stamped on the flat part of the block above the oil cooler
