Napa Single Mass Flywheel Conversion
No problem, I think it's pretty clear that the DMF is not necessary...unless you have a real issue with feeling vibrations in the cab. I just ordered my Napa SMF kit today!
Thanks for the input everyone. I'll report back about the Napa SMF kit after I've run it for a while.

napa clutch
I am looking into purchasing the napa single mass flywheel conversion. The main thing I am trying to find out is how much extra clamping force there will be,or if the is a noticeable difference in the driving manners of the kit itself.
I am looking for a new clutch as well. I am confused by this heavy duty hydraulic upgrade though. The pictures of the clutch master cylinder assembly has tags on the part with the chrysler symbol. So my question is, is the upgraded hydraulics jsut the hydraulics from the nv5600?
Ok so I tracked down the previous owner of my truck and it turns out that he installed a South Bend clutch about 30,000 miles ago. So I guess I won't be installing a Napa clutch. He said it is their 650+ hp dual disc clutch setup.
So now I guess my only question is can the South Bend clutches be adjusted? Do they need to be adjusted? If so, how are they adjusted? Also, is it normal for the throwout bearing to make a lot of noise when you're idling and you push in the clutch pedal? Because to me it sounds like a throwout bearing that is going out, but maybe this is normal for the heavier duty clutches...I don't know.
Sorry that I won't be giving any feedback on the Napa conversion.

I want to make the conversion to a single mass clutch system as well and have a few questions.
Which clutch mfg would be the best for a stock truck, SB, Valair or NAPA?
If using the napa single disk conversion, what are yall's idea about having to retain use the oem flexplate. Would this make the conversion weaker.
I like the set up of the SB and Valair systems better. I just want to make a well educated decision and do it right the first time so I don't have to g back and fix problems later.

I just got my Organic face Valair in the mail and plan to have it installed this weekend... It was about the same price as the NAPA stuff and about $240 cheaper than the SB. I have a complete stock truck and after much reading and calling I thought this was the best way to go..... I will let you know how it works....

Update:
I have had the clutch in for about 300 miles now and it seems to hold very well.. The one problem is that it chatters from starting a stop in second gear sometimes (as I have been told, let out the pedal slowly and only give it fuel after the clutch is engaged). I can work around it as once you get rolling it or give it a little fuel it does not do it. No problems in 1st or reverse (or shifting). So far Valair tells me to drive it a while longer (maybe for another 500 miles) and see how it is then....
I hope it improves....

My clutch is slipping pretty bad in my 06. looks like valair has a few decent kits for a reasonable price. anybody here running there ceramic clutch rated at 600 hp. http://valairinc.com/performance/24g56.html. also been lookin at that organic rated at 400 cant make up my mind.
dmf to single flywheel
I just had a Napa conversion installed on my truck. The clutch pedal seems soft on top and hard at the bottom and I can not shift smoothly. Is this a hydraulic problem or a clutch problem?
Guys/Gals, these Cummins units never require any engine RPM until after the clutch is let out. Just select 1st if you have a heavy load, get the truck moving then hit the throttle. You will find your clutch lasting a long long time DMF or SMF. I have never worn a clutch out and have been stick shaking for 41 years. Had 4 Dodge Diesels all manual. Revving the engine to take off eats clutches in these units. I am up to 65000km with this DMF and pull a 14k 5th wheel.
