NAPA air filter

I bought a NAPA (Wix) air filter for my 04.5 Cummins and it had no foam pre-filter....still cost $28. After running it on a trip I noticed my indicator was in the yellow already. I took it out and it was as clean as new. Is there such a thing as too much restriction in a filter? I swear my mileage was worse after I installed it....put the old one back in for now.

I have been running the Napa Gold #2846 since 7,500 miles. The first one stayed in for only 7,500, the second for 20,000, and I have about 10,000 on the third one. My mileage has been consistent from new to replacement time on each filter and I plan on running the third one for at least 30,000 miles. The filter minder on my stock truck has never moved. The filter is rated for 675 cfm according to fleetfilter.com. If my mileage had started dropping off, I would think that my filter minder is broken but it is always the same. At $30 a piece at the local Napa, I hope that they can hold a serious amount of dirt before the performance drops off. Are you running a fuel box or exhaust?

Running stock Filter

I am running a stock filter and it sucks my guage in if I get on it. I know it is ok, just a little more than the filter can take with out sucking in the guage. Read my Sig. for my upgrades. javahjoro from Kokomo
