I understand perfectly about not having to turn it off manually. The thing I don't think you'll like is shifting with it locked in the lower gears. "Firm" is an understatement!
But see how you like it and if you can make it practical.

"idle psi should be about 3 psi and should increase 1 psi for every 1 mph"
If I jack the pressure switch up to 20 psi it should always be off in first.
I do expect to be hitting the foot switch but keep in mind this isn't for constant use. I'm doing this mod to keep the trans cool in hot situations.
