Is my torque convertor bad?
Is my torque convertor bad?
I recently bought a 2004.5 Dodge 2500 with the HO 325hp Cummins and an automatic Trans. I have always owned manual transmisssions, but I bought an automatic because my dad has an 05 dodge automatic and has had no problems with it and the wife needs an auto.
Anyways I have a bullydog triple dog downloader and a 5-inch exhaust and an air intake. Just the other night I was accelerating onto the highway and when i got up to about 55-60 mph right before the truck shiffted into overdrive, it began to surge, almost bucking adn had no power to accelerate. I backed off of it and when it shifted I had no problems. Also, the trans shifts firm and normal and if I don't try to accelerate fast it shifts fine.
Sorry for the length, but I am verry worried I will have to spen a lot of money on my trans or tc. I run the programer on the towing setting and don't drive it hard, the truck has about 64,000 miles and I have had no other problems with it.
Could someone please let me know what i am experiencing and what I need to do to fix it.
Thanks, a lot

It wasn't locked up yet so I doubt it's a tranny problem.
What you describe sounds more like a clogged fuel filter.

I just went through the same senario, after a few more days of this my tranny would not go into gear. i took it in and now they are dropping the tranny. sounds similar but dont know what is exactly the prob yet. dont mean to scare ya but id hate to see someone else go through what i am going through now.
The autos on the most part work well but putting a BD and the rest of what you have on it just adds allot more torque. I can't say if yours is bad or not but if you do rebuild or replace the one you have at least call Dave Georend and talk to him on what it is doing. He built mine in my 05 and it works like a charm.
