Hey guys this is my first diesel in a truck so im a newbie when i bought the truck its an 06 megacab drove it down from salt lake wife said the worst she got milage was around 17mpg on the trip comp. Great my last truck 04 2500 qaud hemi was 7 mpg so im stocked right then i put my mods on as listed now she is reporting the best she has seen is 14mpg. you guys experince this with your mods? Also i am using the bully dog pmt and she leaves it set on stock could this be a prob. not to sure what setting for long trips and around town. And one final queston (sorry guys) light grey smoke when she pulls away from the light. some guy in a mini van pulled up next to her at a light cusing her and fliping her off for the small amount of smoke it left so she put it to performance setting and left him in a cloud of black smoke got to love my wife. but they grey smoke makes me wonder? thanks guys hope to be home soon few more months of good luck and a 20 hour plane ride.

 

First... never trust the overhead. You have to hand calc. if you have oversized tires and have not adjusted for them, that will affect the reading. Any aftermarket stuff whether downloader or module, works by changing perameters in the ECM and that changes the overhead. I have seen mine go from about a few tenths off to as much as 6 mpg off depending on the smarty program and the level ran. The Banks didn't affect it as much.

On the smoke, whenever you put on a bigger turbo, it is going to spool a little slower... less air at the bottom than stock in exchange for more air later. I'd say what you have is normal. you should be able to control the smoke with the right foot. You should see the cloud I leave behind!!
