?Moving throttle cable to adjust shifts???
?Moving throttle cable to adjust shifts???
So a while back I did install a shift kit. actually about 30,000 miles ago. One thing I have been wanting to do is try some different setting with the throttle cable to see where I like it best because the shift points did change.
so after unlocking the tab, which direction do I move the cable to prolong shifts and which way to make them come sooner?
thanks guys

Pull the cable back to prolong the shifts, push it in the shorten them. Don't go too far as it is very sensitive... If you go too far back, your trans will go nuts upon heavy acceleration....
Be careful doing this. You can cause it to fail. That cable needs to have no slack in it.
If you really want it to shift at a different Rpm/speed, you need a VB experienced guy to change springs in the valve body.

that is true but there can be slight adjustment made with no problems. I have done this a few times but its been a while and couldn't remember the direction I needed to go. I have already made a number of changes in the valve body and it shifts awesome, especially for the whole 125.00 i spent. I just need to make a slight adjustment. personal preference, thats all.

stupid question here. Would this still be the same for a 05 model? I haven't even looked to see if there is a cable to the tranny. Since I don't have a true throttle cable, I assumed no. Will possibly look this weekend but if it did change the shift points a little, so much better.
I don't tow and I hate how I need to wait until 50 mph before OD. Rather have it slightly under that.
Use to change the shift points a little on my 1st gen and loved it.

That is what I thought as I didn't remember seeing a cable when I poked around looking awhile ago. BUMMER.
Thanks. Sometimes, Newer is not always better.
Miss working on the old truck, like working on the old muscle cars. You tweaked here and there and could SEE the difference. Now, just plug and play. Which is great also, just don't have the $$$ to plug so I can play right now.
