I have 16900 on my 03, I have ran Rotella both of them, i currently run the synthetic, i have ran dello, mobil, valvoline, Royla purple, amsoil and Schaffer. I really liked the Schaffer for price and quality, then for avalibity I run the Rotella synthetic.

I run Rotella Synthetic too and love it. That is until recently...when I noticed Shell made it switch to that newer CJ blend crap. So now when my stock runs out (12 gallons).........im not sure what im going to switch to, to stay with a CI-4+ blend.

Maybe John Deere oil. Or Amsoil.

Rotella at the 'china' Mart

Rotella 5w-40 went from $16.57 to $18.20 around the first of August, and last week it is now up to $20 a gallon!
Luckily oil is down to $106 a barrel since Gustav didn't tear up a bunch of stuff.(CNN This morning).
Maybe the Rotella will come back down?
I have been watching for sales more often.
Get you a Fleetgaurd or Mobile one (M1-403) oil filters. Amazon Has the K&N HP-4003 oil filter for $9.50, and if you get more than $25 worth, free shipping, & No Tax

So they finally made the switch? I stocked up also after I got an email from Shell last year stating they were going to change to CJ. I haven't looked at the bottles lately to see if they changed yet. How long ago was the change? Maybe there is still some old stock at wally world. And if not, finally on to Amsoil.

They no longer have any CI-4+ Rotella at my local walmart. Very dissappointing. I am sure we will have to go in a new direction now.

Since new (144,000 miles) I've run Delo 400. New oil and Stratapore filter every 10,000 miles. It has never needed a quart between changes.

Steer clear of the Fram oil filters and K&N air filters.

John, Delo 400 is (was?) great oil. But I wouldn't go 10K miles on the new CJ blend oils. You may want to get an oil analysis done and make sure you still have good TBN after that long of an interval. The new CJ stuff starts off much lower TBN that the older CI-4+ oil.

I don't want to use the newer CJ stuff at all......but I sure wouldn't go over 5K using it. (any brand)

From what I have read (or heard) the CJ Valvoline Premium Blue has a higher TBN value than the CJ Delo or Rotella. Think it's between 10-11.

I have made the switch to Premium Blue for this reason.

That's very interesting. Thanks for the info. I guess I'll have to re-think this. I'll do an analysis, where do we get the bottles?

Thanks.

Get ahold of Blackstone labs. They'll send you a kit in the mail. Postage back to them is like $1.75.

For anyone thats interested,I got an email from Mobil this morning.

They're running a rebate on their Mobil Delvac 15w-40. You get $3 per gallon back.

I bought 12 gallons last Spring and ended paying just over $6 per gallon after rebate.
