how many miles on her?? takes about 20,000 miles to break her in. i have 80,000 miles on my 04.5 with the edge juice and i get 17 mpg doing 50-50 driving- no matter if i drive her hard or like a grand ma. i can get 21 mpg on the highway if i keep her under 2000 rpm's. the only major difference between our trucks should be- i have dyna-trac lock out hubs and you should weigh a little more.

I have 78000 miles on it have been told that it might be an injector or something because it idles pretty rough and also when i let of the pedal going down a hill or something it will be like its not getting enough fuel like it is choking it.

Is this something new, or has your mileage always been this bad? If the truck has a standard trans, low axel ratio, been raised, or has big tires, all these things will lower the mileage you can expect from your truck. If this is something new you can check the usual suspects like a dirty air cleaner, low tire pressure, etc.

that's real bad. i do mostly highway driving, and can pull 20 mpg pretty easy, with 3.5" lift and 35" toyo m/t's. i would start with the easy stuff (air and fuel filters), and then go from there- something is not right.

I get 15 with mine, its really more common than it seems. Dual tires makes a good bit of difference, also I would try a Smarty Jr rather than the Diablo.

does having drw make a big difference? i never really thought that much about it, but it makes sense that it would.

Its considerable, you add 33% more rolling resistance, and I run 285 mud tires as well, which knocked out about 3mpg from the stock 235s.

Just got 23MPG this past weekend with the smarty jr. The overhead was reading 25 and I was praying it was true. Gotta love $5 diesel.

I've got 06 mega cab 3500 4x4 non dually and only see 15 tops driving like an old man. Very disappointed in the MPG on this vehicle. Love it other than that. I'll this hype about the smarty jr, I'll guess I will buy one.

I'm getting 15 MPG mixed driving with the lift and 35s. I won't claim to baby it all the time, but when on the highway I'll make sure to keep my RPMs right at 1800-1900. Just out of curiosity, is it an auto or manual. Also, on the highway, how fast are you going, what RPM are you at?

I get 12 mpg if I'm lucky, but I do 90% city driving and it takes me nearly 30 minutes to drive the 8 miles home.
