might have lost the intercooler in Branson

My 2005 with a plastic CAC lost boost near Branson. I had it towed to Branson Motorcoach. If it happens to be a CAC, does anyone have a metal spare nearby?

Thanks, Scott

Yeah, and I would have gone that way had the price difference not been ridiculous.

I'm just happy it pulled my trailer up those hills yesterday (in 95 degree heat) and got me home. Finally.

Understood.

Even getting a Banks is more than a grand for not a whole lot of extra benefit unless you've got a bigger turbo pushing high pressure.

An Aftermarket CAC is worlds better than the stock (for most anyway, not all- buyer beware) and it only takes a before/after comparison to see. But for most folks that are close to stock, the stock CAC is more than fine.

Did you install a new one before you left Branson?

Anyone with a plastic tank intercooler should toss it. Change it out in your garage than on the side of the freeway.

I have a BD intercooler. It was not worth it and is my least cost effective upgrade.
IMO, no one with a less than a 800RWHP truck should spend money on a larger intercooler.
If I had to do it again, I would have bought a larger radiator.

I'd thought about changing it proactively. You know what they say about hindsight. Sigh.

If you bought your truck new, take back to your dealer.
Chrysler was replacing them, they new they had a problem.
Doesn't cost anything to try.

I'd never heard of it being covered out of warranty. So, I took it to an independent...last week.

I had it replaced with a new OEM metal part. Used ones show up in the classifieds here once in a while for ~$300. I paid $790 for the new one.
