just got off the phone with EMS. the kit should be out in January. they are hoping to keep the price below $1400. I was told by ems that fuel mileage increases are estimated at around 1 mpg. I will most likely install this kit as I am all about fuel mileage and plan to keep my truck a LONG time.

I love my Dynatrac kit. I only saw about 1 mpg increase. The two benefits I really love are the steering and stop and go driving. My truck steers much easier, like a 2wd, also acceleration is quicker. My truck no longer feels “heavy” in the front. It’s hard to explain; I guess with the hubs unlocked, you’re turning less weight, so it accelerates easier. Make sense? Also, what little vibration I had in the front is now gone.

Don't know about anyone else but "low range 2wd" sounds very appealing to me especially when I am the one having to load square bales by hand and 4 wd will not allow the needed turning radius .

IMO yes it will take a long time to make up the difference in fuel mileage. BUT as most of us know with the 3rd gen our Ball joints and ujoints are terrible since they are sealed. And if you live in a colder climate that uses salt on the roads. The Hubs can be very hard to revome. And you end up destroying them. So if you are going to pay the dealer 360x2 for hubs. The 1k price tag no longer sounds that bad. But I am sure if you buy these and when you go to do your hubs the stock ones will slide right off.

The free spin hubs are one of the best mods I did. I don't care about the savings anymore. The truck is just very functional and drivable now and I enjoy the added flexibility, period!

I talked to a guy who had manual hubs on his dually pulling a Fema trailer . He said he did it for milage and durability . It did look a little funny though with those hubs sticking out so far . It reminded me of an older model Furd .

They stick out past the adapters? Ford's are back in a little, I was hoping these kits would be something like that. Do the hubs use some sort of extension to stick out that far?

The hubs stick out past the stock wheels just a hair. I have 10 inch wide wheels and the hubs are recessed, it looks good. I thought that the hubs could have been made shorter but when you put it all together, there really isn't any room to make anything shorter. You've got two large bearings on the spindle with grease in between them, there is about a 2 inch gap between those bearings that could be cut down I guess. After that you have the spindle nuts and lock washer, then the Warn hubs take up the rest of the room.

I know a guy that has a 2nd gen dually with the Dynatrac hubs, he got some adapters from a Chevy dually (same bolt pattern) and used them, it worked great. I can't remember if he had to machine them out or not. I'll post up a link if I can find it and if it's not against the rules, since it's on another site.
