Making the Change to AMSOIL

I just hit 34K on my truck and now I am making the swap to AMSOIL Syn. I figured i would run the dino fluid for break-in time. I just ordered Engine oil (15w40 diesel / marine), Trans oil (Syn univ ATF), and Rear gear (75w110). I also got the FS-2500 bypass filter for the engine oil and will be installing that. I will update this post when i get everything installed and ran a few hundred miles.

Let me guess you are an Amsoil distributor. I am dying to know how wonderful this product is so I can make up my unbiased mind whether or not to use it.

I installed a AMSOIL dropin fliter and Im impressed with it.
If the rest of the products are as good as the filter, Im going to be doing a complete change on mine as well.

Used to be an Amway dealer years ago. Didnt think they were still in business.

I think you will find the line of Amsoil products to work extremely well, atleast I do anyways. You can run the oil for an extended period of time which will pay for it's self in the long run. You also get that piece of mind knowing that all of your fluids are from the same place and offer great protection.

By the way, where did you pick up the FS-2500 filter kit? How much if you don't mind me asking. Be sure to keep the thread updated, im curious about this new filter kit.

I made the switch to the 15W-40 Diesel/Marine oil about 4k miles ago. Only thing I can report on really is it seems the truck doesnt "rattle" near as loud...seems to idle more smoothly.

Cant comment on any MPG increases like they claim...I've switched a few components around since the change to amsoil so I cant comment on that.

The extended drain intervals is my main motivation for the switch....in my case, it pays for itself in 1 year! I usually got in about 5 oil changes a year at 5k intervals with my '02 CTD and now the '04 CTD at about $60/per oil change at the local quick lube shop. $300 in oil changes VS. $120 for 1 oil change....yeah its worth it.

i am not a AMSOIL Dealer at all. I just heard nothing but good things about switching to full syn. Of course there are those horror stories out there (just like every product), but if you do a search about amsoil i would say 90% of the time its nothing but good things said about it. It is a little more pricy, but thats what the FS-2500 is for. i think i paid $500ish for it (will PM you the dealer i got it from), but it suppose to let me go 15-20k miles before a oil change, of course i will be sending in L/O samples for analysis (sp?). And if it works that good on my L/O then i might get one for my tranny as well. I am all about protecting my truck and making it last 15-20 years from now. My plan is to replace the body before i have to touch that engine.

Sevir,

Why did you buy the FS-2500 when I see that Amsoil has a nice by pass setup for a cheaper price?

I have the Amsoil bypass filter. I am very pleased with it. I am also switching to all their fluids in my diffs (75w140), tranny (ATF), transfer case (ATF), and the engine (15w40) when break-in period has arrived. My engine oil is now cleaner because the soot and most damaging particles are being managed. I am also running their nano air filter. I have been testing my oil at each oil change interval. My first oil change had an unacceptable silicone level, withing acceptable levels, but a little higher than I wanted to see and unacceptable to me, I was running the stock air filter. I did not see any dirt/dust on my turbo intake. I changed my air filter to the nano filter when I changed my oil, my next oil testing showed a good-sized reduction in silicone. That speaks for itself. I am very pleased with the filter.

I did buy a distributorship, and am now offering the availability of their fine products to my community. You can become a preferred customer and save 20% on their products. You can go to their website and complete the preferred customer application, or you can contact a distributor and have them assist you with the signup. This is my first encounter with the Amsoil products, since buying my truck last year I became aware of their products, glad I did as they are fine products. It is not my intent to recruit anyone into becoming a downline in my organization or sell anything on the internet or provide product sales to anyone here. I just believe that when something works and is a good product the word should get out to as many who might benefit.
