Lower and level
i know that this is borderline sacralidge(sp) but all of my trailers were not designed to be towed by something this tall
I have the Sooner hooked up as we speek and the bottom of the gooseneck is not evenly spaced for the length of the bed and I was thinking( not too good at it) that if the rear was lowered and airbags were put in to tote the extra weight that would let me sleep easier at night when the wife has it going to a horse show
How far off am I?

If the '07s are the same, there should be two spacers between the axle and springs. I think they are each 5/8" thick.
You can move them from between the axle and springs to above the springs. That way the same U-bolts and brackets will still work. The back end might be a little lower than the front end when loaded, but probably not too much.
If you search, I think there were a couple people on here that did this.

It is actually sort of common for folks who tow 5th wheels to remove one or both of those spacer blocks. If you want air bags, I'd say remove both blocks and add the bags and you should be good to go.

I have a quad cab dually and it would not have hurt my feelings to have found the guy in TX that is making the mega-lwb-dually before i got this one
but other than fuel milage I love my TRUCK!

I removed my leveling kit and lower the rear by swapping the rear spacers from under the springs to on top like is detailed on this site. It is still slightly higher in the rear, at least empty or light load.

I had the spacers removed completely, new hardware (U bolts) to bolt it back up. The airbgags readjust the height under load, no harsh ride empty. Works great and sure beats having to adjust the hitch for each different sized pin box with different bed rail clearance. I did this after damaging the underside of one and paying a $500.00 repair.
Removing spacers and airbags
I have a 04.5 4x4 and a 29E34 Titanium 5th wheel. The truck was too high as I found out on my 4 month trip to the north. I had put air bags on the truck. First off the airbags did not raise the truck. They certainly could but with only 7 to 10 l bs in them when empty they did not raise my truck. When I hooked up I put 50 in them and brought truck back to proper height.
Because I "touched" the undserside of the 5th with my box rails once I became a little more concerned. I removed one spacer only because the manufacturer said I had to have a minimum travel distance for the air bags or they could become damaged. Therefore I only removed one, but it certainly helped to level things out. If I was to do it over again I would remove the spacers first and then fit the air bags in so as to make sure the air bags are sized right. Also I had to take the bags part way off anyway to properly move the spacers. Hope this helps.

I agree 110% I would love to have a flatbed but there is one problem simplified by one word: WIFE
I am waiting on her to take a fenderwell off @ a drive through or wrinkle the bed going over a hill and then I will get my flat bed
I am waiting patiently; I have in my mind what I want
kind of a western hauler type without the dove tail.

Don't know how similar the trucks are, but I move my shims to the top. That lowered the truck one inch at the axle and two inches measured from the lowered tailgate. I don't have airbags either.
