Low speed left turns I get a dull vibration/grinding sound?

It's been doing it for awhile. I figured it was a wheel bearing then I realized I hadn't changed my diff fluids in about 30K miles. I changed the fluids and it's still there. It almost reminds me of what a diff feels like when the fluid is bad if you know what I mean.

Any suggestions on what to look at. Only happens on low speed left turns and I wanna think it's coming from the front. I've driven it 50 or so miles and felt the plastic hub cap for my KMC wheels up front and neither ones seems hotter than the other... They actually are warm but not overly hot.
The farther I drive it gets a little worse, ie something is getting hot.

Thanks in advance!

Remove front drive shaft.

Jack up each side of the front axle. And use jack stands rated for capacity of the truck.

Turn each wheel/tire and see if you notice a difference in resistance between the two.

Any chance the inner fender has fallen? Did it on my 99 and it sounded similar.

You know.... I'll have to check that first and would be dang happy if that's it. I've noticed lately it will rub on that side turning into a steep parking lot.

That's what I'm thinking. I'll have to examine it this weekend. Going free spin kit, think it would be a good investment if it's a bearing.

That's what I thought when mine was making a grinding sound with the wheels turned. It turned out to be the front axle u-joint. I'd place my money on that.

I think he means the ujoint on the axle shaft near the wheel. Aparently the axle spins anytime the wheel is rolling. I would expect that to be an oscillating sound not a continuous growl.

Well I'm gonna probably order a free spin kit this week. I bought longer control arms thursday and will source some ball joints, steering brace, passenger side u-joint and tie rod ends this week as well. It's not leaking grease yet and the ABS light isn't coming on so I'm kinda stumped on this.

Only other thing I can think of would be a bad track bar bushing which I'm replacing this week.

Should have got a 2wd

The problem you mention sounds a lot like wheel u-joint(s) going bad. When my u-joints were going out, I noticed the front wheels would grab and buck in a tight turn. After putting in new joints, the truck steers nice and smooth in tight turns.

Mine did the same. It was axle u-joint.
