my 03 had been starting rough (15-20 seconds) hot or cold still started hard. i bought the rail pressure cap off tool and blocked number 2 off. Bam started like a champ (3 seconds) took the tool off and put the line on then it was starting just fine 3-5 seconds)??? i decided to pull each injector out one at a time and clean the nozzles replace the connector tube orings and body orings. i took each injector out one at a time tearing them apart and cleaning them in clean diesel fuel. every injector nozzle had alot of carbon build up so i cleaned them with a piece of scotch brite being careful not to loose any small pieces i began the reassambly. after installing all of the injectors and checking?adjusting the valve lash on both intake and exaughst rockers she was ready for the first start. i fired right off but has a slight lope and ticking noise under the hood. slowly puffing out white smoke. if you stomp it black smoke pours out. so the question is, is it time for injectors? note there was no damage to the nozzles or connector tubes during disassembly or reassembly. every piece was put in exactly as taken out..
CEL came on today with injector circuit open in cylinder 1.

ohm tested the injectors all read .6
checked the harnesses all checked out now im really stuck.
i pulled the suspected injector tore it back down reinspected the connector tube and injector body/nozzle still no signs of damage or imperfections.

i also put the fuel rail block off tool on each injector one at a time thinking it would help rule out something. still nothing
