Codes in glove box?

Mfg date 07-02

(Glove box label)

DGB Transmission 4sp A (mine says "B" not 8)
DGP Transmission 4sp AU
DHA Torque converter lock

I have always assumed I have the 47RE.......
I can't complain... It hauls heavy loads up and down with no problems!...

I had a quad cab, but it had the small doors that opened with the main doors instead of the 4 seperate doors. The HO was an option with the 6 speed transmission.

True, but the new Quad cabs have 3 more inches to the cab.

Thats true there is more room in the back of these new quad cabs and the doors are a nice feature. I'm not a big fan of the quieter motor. I think that my old truck pulled twice as hard as this no "high output" truck. I pulled more than I should have with my old truck, about 15k and never had a lack of power. With my new truck it is winded with 10k. My wife commented last week when we were getting our boat back from the dealer, that towing with this truck was like towing our old 5k boat with a jeep cherokee. If it was me I'd consider the 2nd gen motor if you are considering a used truck. Its nice to have the room in the back seat.....but I never ride back there so 3 or 4 inches either way wouldn't keep me from buying it.

Thanks for the info, ends up I had the 47re.

I figured that is what it had, I actually sold the truck today.

Thanks again for the info.

DGP is the code for the 47re.

I dont want to offend anyone, but I went with a ford this time around. Biggest reason was the cab size, two kids, a dog, wife, and all the stuff that comes along with it. I liked my dodge, did what I needed it to, but I got a great deal and really like the new truck.

Thanks again

Was the 03-04 pretty trouble free? Any major upgrades besides the injection system?
I have heard of a few problems with the new 600.

Thanks

My 03 was problem free, it had 37,000 miles on it, I only put on the last 8000 but it was trouble free and I dont think it had any problems before I owned it.

Mine was a standard output and lacked power, I had a 28' toyhauler that it struggled with, my 24' enclosed trailer it handled fine, but would slow on the big hills.

I was impressed with the truck overall, and would not hesitate to own another. I would however try and get the 48re trans, just because of the reputation of the 47.

I believe the newer ones have alot of upgrades, but what I could not tell you.

Good luck

If you can believe I did a search on the autotrader.com and found one from a dealer in Nashville had two new/used ones mine only had 43 miles on it but had to be sold a used because of a paint recall, and then they raise the paint warranty to 100K or 7 years after they painted it .. also raised some of the other warranty's. I don't even want to tell you what I got it for ... make you feel bad ... Great Truck with all the bells ... you need to do your homework though I think the 2003's are the best so far I have had 2 already. On the trip back home i set the cruse to 70 and my best was 22.5 MPG and that was on a new engine!
