here's the latest update.....
Got all my injectors out and here's a pic of #4. I obviously still need to get the head off cause I'm sure there's some nasty damage under there. The red lint is from my rag.

Administrator ........ DTR's puttin fires out and workin on big trucks admin
When you pull this engine down and assess what damage you have, as long as the block and crank are in good shape, you can pick up a complete Cummins overhaul kit for around $2.000. Maybe even less if you know someone with a commercial account.
Did you happen to cut open any of your recent oil filters by chance?
Once again good luck, Tim

Thanks for the tip on the overhaul kit. By the time the labor is done with that though..... I'll have spent as much as a new motor costs. If the damage is that bad once I get in there, I'm just gonna put a new motor in it.

I don't know where you guy got this from. The only thing 53 told me so about is what he thought happen.
It's not like I was warned and went out and did what I was warned against. I knew exactly what I was doing by keeping my foot planted. I expected the motor to hold up a little better than it did though.
"I think he was told that elsewhere too?" I was ? Every post I made was to either get info about what happen and/or so others can see what will happen.

Before buying a new engine, I'd pull the head and see if it just hurt the piston. If the cylinder walls are ok, just buy a new piston kit and repair it. Make sure the wrist pin bushing is still ok from all the fuel wash and put it back together. Should be cheaper than a new bullet????
