Limited slip rearend?

Have a friend with a 2006 2500 but isn't sure if he has limited slip.
Where does he find this info on the truck? I'm aware he can go to a dealer and run his VIN.

Thanks in advanced

A heavy foot and a tight turn will tell you. I can feel the tires (both at the same time) jump around doing that on dry pavement. On wet pavement you can easly feel both tires spin some. Without limited slip I am sure only one wheel would spin.

If he still has the window sticker it will be an option on it. Maybe he keep it or maybe not. I always keep mine in the glovebox.

hold in the brake press down on the go petal and build some boost and do a burn out if you leave one tire mark sorry for your luck, two tire marks you have limited slip

Jack up the rear end if you have slip when you spin one tire the other will spin the opposite direction IIRC? Someone confirm.

No, all open differentials will do this. A well preloaded limited slip will turn both tires the same direction. The TracRite GT gear differential will spin them the opposite direction like an open differential.

Sorry, cant help you there! I always save the window sticker, and I always order mine with it, so never had to look. For my conditions (mud and winter) and for pulling it is a must for me! I'm sure someone will know!

Determining limited-slip in the AAM axles is deceptively simple:

1. Drive onto wet grass.

2. Stop. (ABS may be checked at this time)

3. Drive off of wet grass. (note - if truck moves off of grass, make sure you don't have it in 4WD; if not - you have an open differential)

4. If you're still trying to drive out of the wet grass, congratulations!
--- You have limited slip!!!

Not trying to be rude....but I'm not following you here at all! I think you have it reversed, or Im not getting what you are saying.

If it drives off the wet grass-you have limited slip...open diff, your likely stuck!

I am short and the joke may have gone over my head though!

The limited slip on my previous dodges was more likie a limited "grip". Definitely seen better in other trucks.

Don't worry, old boy - I'm just engaging in a bit of josh with the blokes who've had the devil of a time using the new AAM Torsen gear-style limited slip differentials...

If you do get stuck in wet grass, apply the emergency brake or the foot brake a bit and you should be out in a jiffy!

If your rear is open, hopefully you have 4WD.
