Lift pump victim!

As I am writing this, my truck sits at a Ashland, VA dealership with a completely dead lift pump. After 8 days and 700+ miles of towing our camper to different campgrounds in VA, my lift pump died on the last leg of the trip. My truck stalled like it ran out of fuel then would restart for a couple of miles before stalling again. The last time it would turn over but not restart. I changed the fuel filter in a last ditch hope but it would not start. 81,900 miles of trouble free operation and it died hours from home with our camper in tow. After a hefty tow bill for the truck and camper(towed to a campground), I hope the dealership does not give me any trouble on a warranty repair.

You think the lift pump will be covered under the Cummins warranty? Hope you got the EXT warranty, or it could all be your baby. Keep in touch.

This is a good story for all you guys that know about this problem and choose to ignore it. Fix the lift pump BEFORE it leaves you stranded. It probably will if you do nothing.

I 100% agree. I am up to $223 in towing and $80 in camping fees as of today, with no possible repair until at least tommorrow or Tuesday.

I know...I know....that`ll really be kick in the rear , if mine crapps out on me , and the whole time I had a replacement sitting in a box in my garage

my 04 cr lp died on me a few months ago. 100 miles into the 1600 or so mile trip to the TS sled pulls in kentucky. I had 136k on it when it died. try unloading a pulling truck off the trailer, unhooking the cr from the trailer, pulling the truck (cr) forward from the trailer, hooking up and winching the cr onto the trailer on the side of the road, alone, 11pm, and in the snow to make it worse. that sucked!

I know I should change it but I have been hoping to make it to 100K before I do. But, like you guys have said, its no fun to have it fail if you are not in your driveway. Sigh…. Anybody have any information on how many miles you can get out of the Glacier kit?

Surfram, mine went Memorial day weekend. My extended warranty paid for the tow and the Cummins emission warranty paid for the repair. The emission warranty is 5 years/100,000 miles. If it hadn't paid, the bill from the dealer would have been $974.
