Reliable, economical truck.

Dodge would not next day air the pump to the dealer even if I paid the freight.

My LP went out around 20k aswell. I couldn't tell that it died at all and wouldn't have known if I didn't see the fuel pressure guage showing vacume.

My CP3 was replaced around 40k, but wasn't from the LP, it had a faulty high pressure regulator.

Hey Sawboy I had the same Idea about buying a pump and carrying it with me in case I needed it. I priced one out at the dealer $560.00 Canadian Dollars. Needless to say I did not buy it. What is the warranty period on the Pump, is it the same as Powertrain?

At 90K miles the dealer covered my lift pump, CP3 and cam sensor after they messed with the truck for 2 weeks.....

I've got sitting on my desk Holly's 12-801-1 Red fuel pumps.... there rated at 67 gph @ 5 PSI which cover's the flow of our engines... stock engines that is....

Its my project next week to get them on a bracket, and wired to the circuit... they require a 7.5 amp fuse..

After having the truck tied up for 2 weeks because they couldn't sort out the problem I'm going to protect my investment....

A few days ago I put my foot on the trottle...nothing for about 5-qo secounds...it was -10C ...thought it was water in the fuel...changed the fuel filter, put in fuel conditioner...a few days later it happened again....it was then +5C....would this be sign of a left pump failure?

Thx

For anyone looking to change out from the factory pump, I have an adapter for doing a different pump [your choice] that mounts to the back of the filter housing using 2 of the 4 factory screws...its got a 3/8" NPT female thread so you can put a variety of push lock or barb or other fittings into it.

I gave up on the factory pump after number 2 pump read negative 2 pressure under load on a stock motor.

PM me if I can help.

Scotty

A $50,000 truck and we need to keep spare parts under the seat, thats crap. If your truck is your bread and butter, you gotta do what ya gotta do. Any dealers I've talked to don't stock these things.

Check this out! Click on the link below then click on the flashing "NEW PUMP" link at the top of the page. This is the same LP that the FASS system uses, but no filters. Just a dependable LP! This might be the answer for those of us out of warranty. They are about $370 bones for 100GPM.

Can we add a new pump along the frame rail and simply "suck" through the existing, in tank pump? Or is it better to just eliminate the stock setup and draw from the tank? Seems like a simple matter to get a better pump and be done with it. Sorry I don't know more aout this issue.

The Pump is not in the tank it is on the back side of the fuel filter.
Does anyone know the Cummins price versus the DC price? If mine gives me trouble in the future I think I will go with Scotty's fix. I have found that several Dealers in the Edmonton area do stock the pump but the consensus is the only people that are having problems are those fueling out of barrels or overhead tanks, but I don't believe that.

Has anyone noticed if the use or lack of fuel additives contibuted to a lift pump failure? Does anyone know of any warranty not being honored for the use of additives?

i think the dealers are full you know what. i live in a big city the diesel is always fresh. the punp is a bad design or it's mounted in the wrong area. if it were mounted on the frame or in the tank we would be better off.

It is time for DC to step up to the plate and fix the problem. I and the taxpayers made a commitment to DC and had faith in DC when I bought their products and it is time for DC to honor the commitment they made to me. You can bet my employer (the taxpayers) will not be buying DC products again.
