Leaking steering gear box

Hello everyone - I replaced my steering gear box since it was hard to steer. I replaced the gear box with a reman unit which solved the problem. My gear box is now leaking on the top as mounted on the truck - there is a flange with 4 to 6bolts that secure the flange. Seems to be leaking at this flange mounting surface. I did notice when I remove the reservoir cap that a pop sound is made, like it was under pressure or vacuum.

Could this noise be the reason why I am leaking? How do I solve the issue that my reservoir is not venting?

Yes, common problem. Search for the "steering box dipstick mod". Basically you disassemble the dip stick and drill a small hole in the cap liner IIRC. Worked for my 2003.
