Are the 6.7's that bad? I need a 8 ft bed and might be making a change.

I got 2 friends with 08's and 1 w/ an 09. 2 of the trucks have been flawless and they claim 17-18 mpg. 1 of the 08's has been in the shop 14 times, turbo clogged, dpf, dpf, turbo clogged, dpf, etc, etc and Dodge won't lemon it for him.

Really needing an 8 ft bed and the way the auto industry is now really throws everything in the air. Ford ????? no gmc. I don't like all the smog stuff on the new ones but I guess we will all be there soon, nothing lasts forever. The used market is getting tight with many used 06-07 with big miles on them and the low mileage ones going for bucks, might as well go new. But that 6.7 and the DPF +++++ has me worried. My 03 is far from perfect but at least I know the problems....I just need to calm down,,,,any ideas???
