Build date to delivery date - about how long?
I just got a build date of 2/10 for my new 3500! Any ideas on how long the ship time usually is to the northeast (NJ)?

estimating shipment on 2/15(yesterday) The dealer said it will be
three more weeks till it arrives here. He said they give preference
to sold models. I hope he was right.

ordered 3/1 (2500HD, Cummins, auto, crew, short bed, Laramie)
build date 4/16
delivery in California ? (dealer estimates 1st week of May)
Hopefully the rebate will improve by then but probably wishful thinking as the HD models seem to be selling well??

Ordered on 1/21, built 2/12, shipped out 2/15, actually arrived at the dealer on 3/11, picked up on 3/12. Took about 2 weeks to get from the rail yard to the dealer - about 50 miles... The dealer, George V. at Flemington Dodge in NJ, was great to deal with, and worked with me and kept me up to date all through the process. A good experience so far with them!

Don't blame a dealer who tells you that the truck is taking longer than you thought. There is a process to which the dealer only has a little influence.
Though, its okay to be steamed if they dick you around and can't simply say where it is, or why it is delayed due to a material restriction. Your basic salesman probably wouldn't have that knowledge, or even the rights to access that stuff.
If you want your truck faster, put your name on the order. It will (usually) be allocated stock before the unsold orders. Once allocation is available the order will be accepted and put into what is called D Status. They have the parts, a VIN is created, but the actual date the metal goes together isn't known yet, other than the build month. Once it goes D1 status, they know when it'll be put together. When the truck is actually started on the line you can track its progress through frame (E), paint (F), trim (G), built not ok'd (I), built ok'd (J), emission check (JE), shipped to storage (JS), and then released by plant and invoiced (KZ).
There are many other tracking codes that will follow and can be the longest delays. It may be released, but not shipped (KZL). The golden code is KZX. Delivered to dealer.
All of these are easy to get through the dealer software and if the dealer is smart, they'll share this information with you so you see there is a reason. Its not an excuse, but just where along the line it got hitched.
Think you have it tough? As a far northern Canadian dealer, I have a pure month wait for shipping from Saltillo. Plus the other delays.
So I think you would have your truck by now. Probably on another post, but congrats on it!

I can check a VIN if you have been shown one. I can check build date on that only. Tracking is limited to the dealership.
Ask them to get it for you so you can start the ball on insurance and registration. You might get more out of them with a request like that.
