largest tires & wheels without lift?

Would like to get some new rims for my 06 3500 4x4. Whats the largest size you guys are getting without a lift and no rub? I'd like to go with a 18" rim but not sure whats the best rim/tire combo.

A 35" or equvilent (315s) tire will fit without rubbing if the wheels have low enough backspacing. The stock steel wheels will rub. The alloys do a litte better, but still rub the control arms at full lock.

Got another queston, do you realy need a spring compressor to put hte leveling kit on? I am having a tough time finding one and have been told it aint much if any harder to do with out the spring compressor.
Thanks

H2 take off's work great with their rims and the stock H2 315/70/17 , at least on my 2500 4X4.

If filling out the wheel wells is more important than the wheels, try some 35's on your OE wheels. They will rub only slightly (upper radius arms) at lock-to-lock turns on OE wheels. From what I've read, aftermarket wheels with the wrong offset makes it more difficult to run larger tires without a lift.

Here's a pic of a buddy's truck (hey coalbucket !) with some LT35X12.50R17 Mastercraft Courser C/T's on OE alloys.

I really like the black wheels, seen alot in 18", is anyone running 18's. My 3500 looks like its got 6' in the rear wheelwell.

Remember folks, Those large tires raise hell with front end's! The large diameter wheels have too much leverage on tie rods, ball joints etc.

It's like trying to loosen a big nut with a 6" wrench vs. an 18" wrench

Be careful with the eagle 114 17X10's they will not fit 315's with a leveling kit on a 4X4 the back spacing is way off compared to stock wheels

larger diameter wheels make very little difference at all [other than slightly heavier wheel, but the wheel/tire combo weighs close to the same], larger diameter tires make the difference. you can have a 31" tire on a 20" rim and it will load the front end just the same as if you had a 31" tire on a 17" rim.

Hey Hump, hows the finish on those wheels? I loved my Mickey Thompson classic 2's on my 98, but the finish wasn't coated so they looked aweful after a month or two.

eagle alloys..

my eagle alloys 114's.. suck for finish.. if you don't keep them "polished"even a coat of wax.. forget it..they never hold that "brand" new shine out of box.. great looking wheel.. just alot of TLC to keep them looking NEW.. i the only reason why i bought them was a awesome deal. 4 17x9 W/ 4 toyo 325/70/17 mouted and ballanced installed.. for 1.100.00 couldn't pass it up..all new as 3 months ago..
