K&N Gold Oil Filter

Has anyone ever used the K&N Gold OIl Filter? If you read the way it's designed it sounds pretty good and the price is reasonable. I like the fact that that it keeps the oil in the filter for starting, do other oil filters have this as well? I know my motorcycle oil filter has this feature from the factory. This will be my first time changing oil on a diesel and want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Are there other filters out there better than this filter with the same features?

I strictly use Fleetguard Stratapore filters. Since they are designed by Cummins I know they are going to be high quality. It will also make a warranty claim go much easier in the unlikely event. Also, the stock filter holds plenty of oil after the engine is shutoff...around a quart. This is why you must pre fill the filter when changing it.

Re:K&N Gold Oil Filter

Do you like having a warranty on your engine??? I imagine that you would like to keep the warranty - correct???

Then you MUST use an approved oil filter - get a Fleetguard, they likely cost much less than the K&N. Don't bother quoting passages from the Magnesson-Moss Warranty act - I dont buy it. Not one of us here has the money or resources to take the Diamler Chrysler corporation to court over a $9 oil filter. Im not necassarily saying the K&N is a bad filter - but it is not "approved", and will concievably void your warranty.

Re:K&N Gold Oil Filter

I'm not arguing the warranty part, I was just wondering if the K&N would do a better job that other filters. I will use Fleetguard, sounds like it's the filter of choice.

Thanks,
Steve
