Just wondering.....

I live here in south texas and it hardly never dips below 35F. I was just wondering since i still park the Truck outside and it sits in about 40f-50f weather while i sleep, do I really have to wait for the wait to start light to turn off? I went by the dealer the other day and the sales guy was your waiting for the light to turn off, you dont need to do that. In my head i was like your crazy. So I was just wondering?

The truck will start at those temps without waiting but the heaters are there for a reason, why wouldn't you wait. Who's life is in danger if you're delayed another 20 seconds?

It's a good idea to wait for the light to go off or you can throw a trouble code. I mistakenly started the truck one day before the light went off...trouble code showed up as low voltage/voltage drop intake heater.

I jump in and hit the key , I have done that with all my Dodges . I let it sit and run for a minute and take off . In real cold weather you really take a lot out of your battery waiting for the light to go out . Never had any problem doing it that way since my first Cummins' in 91 . We are looking at 9 degrees tonight in Ohio but it is in a garage which is a few degrees warmer . I have never plugged in any of my Dodges at night and have never seen any ill effects from this .

i pretty much never wait for my light to go out. the only times i have had to wait was when i lived in alaska. but living in PA, i have never waited. i kinda forgot it was there until one night my girlfriend had to drive my truck and i didn't understand what she was doing.

I agree...

Dodge (and most others) leave some things to be desired in their factory options, but I'm sure they would have left the heaters out if they weren't needed.

I wait.
