just have to rant and rave

Ok I was driving to work today and I have the auto tranny in my ctd and it seems like in some instances its searching for gears. Over all i love my truck and the tranny never gives me any trouble but heaven forbid shouldnt they make a tranny after 20 years that doesnt do this. I mean i know the new one one the 6.7 may not do this but gosh some of us just have to stay with the 5.9. Anyways thats all for my rave . By the way is there a way to fix this. thats not to spendy.

My 02 gasser with 47re searches, my 06 Cummins with 48re never seems to search? I figured it was the torque allowing it to hold the gear and not kick down. It only seems to kick down if I floor it below 45mph or so? Now if I'm traveling in slow traffic between 20 and 35 it changes gears a lot, but that's normal IMO.

That's why I drive a hand-shaker. I have never found an auto I liked...

I'm w/ CTDinMT. I even had a fully built DTT trans in my 03. It was awesome under hard throttle but under light throttle it would shift through the gears super quick. I adjusted everything I could but within a week it would be back the way it was. It was something in the computer I guess.
My new truck always shifts when I think it should.....

I drove both the auto and the stick when I was deciding what I wanted to buy. Then I thought about all the repair bills that could have been with the auto, or the costs to build it for better lifespan etc, bought the stick and glad I did.

Row Row Row your boat. I have never been able to get used to autos so I got a 6spd. I have to admit though when I drive my wifes auto "03 1ton ctd" it sure is nice not to have to worry with shifting. So easy its almost like having a chauffeur

It's just your od lockout button on the shifter. Press it to keep your truck from going into od. If you're driving in third, your truck will not downshift unless you drop to around 30mph or romp on the go pedal.
