I had them fix the front u-joints in the hubs. I was lucky enough to have a set of hubs that came off with out being destroyed. But ofcourse the ball joints were all bad. When I was there my truck was being back out of the garage so they could diagnose the tranny problem. The kid working on my truck asked if I ran propane. He said that my exhaust smelled funny like I had been running propane. I have never run propane in my truck. I do run addatives Like FPPF total power and +8 cetane. Can these addatives make a truck smell like propane? I had put my truck back to Stock before bringing it in.

 

I would have asked him HOW he determined the propane smell? Does HE huff propane? Might it have been residue in his nostrils? Since WHEN have they been trained to sniff out propane like a drug dog? Might serve him to get on track with whatever your REAL problem might be instead of trying to COOK UP something as an excuse for what he just might not know in diagnostics - time to return to good diagnostic techniques and run the tests as per the diagnostics section regarding the tranny, eh?

And to answer your question - no I don't think your additives would smell like propane. I do not use additives and I have noticed a different smell coming out of the exhaust, must be the ULSD.

Well let they didnt really seem to care about my mods. The dealer is in financial trouble. So they take all warranty work they can get. They are reaplacing a motor in 300 limo with the 6cyl under warranty. Talk about a vehicle that should be voided from the warranty

 

what kind of problems are you having and how many miles?

 

He's just smelling the regular old diesel fumes as they smell after being run through a catalytic converter, and making cheesy small talk. He's probably under 25 years old and doesn't know certain body parts from holes in the ground.
