Arrow intermittent oil use?

Why would my truck use 3-4 quarts of oil every 500 miles, sometimes go 1500+ with no oil consumption? I check the oil 2-3 times a week and only add when it get out of crosshatched area. I do not understand, nor know what to check. I've done everything I know to do / check....... what gives????

I think I'll pull the engine and get a look at the guts of this thing and see what's f'd up. I have a feeling it has something to do with #6 hole being the issue. Seems like #6 is the loser, anyone have any idea why it seems to always be #6?

There is some good reading here about it but basically #6 seems to get the hottest and has the most issues. Mostly due to the water flow.

Well. I think I'm gonna pull a oil sample before I pull the engine. I'll do a compression test and have the injectors checked. Maybe then I will have more info before I pull it. It's now been over 1300 miles without adding oil.

Much better plan to gather some info and perform some checks BEFORE pulling the engine.

I'm kinda at a loss as to what to do. So, I'm going to start over with diagnosis. If the truck didn't run perfect, maybe I'd have something to go on.
