Question intercooler

Hi guys. Can you tell me what the inercooler does. and is it part of the raidiator? This is my first diesel 05 dodge ram.

It cools the air coming from the turbo to the engine.

It is separate from the rad.

as your turbo is compressing air to jam it into your intake, heat is created. Therefore air runs through the intercooler to cool it before going into the intake. The intercooler is aluminum,sits infront of the radiator and has no fluid in it. The intercooler uses air as your driving to cool itself off.
